The Lincoln Comedy Allstars – Lincoln Engine Shed, Friday, March 6

The Lincoln Comedy Allstars returns to the Engine Shed this Friday, with a stacked line-up featuring the fantastic Maisie Adam, Simon Brodkin, Adam Rowe & Aurie Styla!

Maisie Adam is a comedian fresh from Taskmaster, Live at The Apollo, A League of Their Own, Mock The Week, and The Last Leg, Maisie’s act is rammed with witty observations, high-octane energy and some right good jokes.

Acclaimed character comedian and “the world’s most famous blagger” (The Daily Telegraph). Simon Brodkin is now performing as himself.

Star of Britain’s Greatest Hoaxer (Channel 4) Simon hit global headlines multiple times for his high-profile stunts, including handing Theresa May a P45 during her speech at the Conservative Party Conference, showering disgraced FIFA president Sepp Blatter with bank notes and, surrounding Donald Trump at the opening of his golf courses with 60 swastika-emblazoned golf balls.

Dala Nasser: Cemetery of Martyrs – Nottingham Contemporary – Now

Nottingham Contemporary is presenting the first solo exhibition in a major cultural institution in the UK by Dala Nasser.

The exhibition will feature a large-scale sculptural and sonic installation that invites audiences into a collective space of mourning and remembrance.

By using the process of frottage (the technique of taking a rubbing from an uneven surface), Nasser has transformed the gallery space into a symbolic graveyard, creating a collection of charcoal rubbings collected from the graves of seminal artists, writers, poets, filmmakers, historians and journalists from across Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan and England.

Representing cultural figures from the mid nineteenth century (specifically the Nahda, Arab Renaissance) to the present day, the work honours those who fought for independence and freedom in times of political dominance and occupation and whose art, writing, and intellectual contributions have shaped the notion of true sovereignty in Western Asia. An accompanying audio installation featuring field recordings the artist collected across 8 cemeteries in Lebanon permeates the installation, connecting this fictional site with real graveyards.

The Great Hall at Wollaton offers the perfect setting for Nottingham Chamber Wind Ensemble to recreate this historical musical genre and entertain you with repertoire ranging from an eighteenth century classic, Beethoven’s Rondino, to works with a more modern twist, including Walton’s Façade and Woolfenden’s Serenade for Sophia.

To celebrate the centenary of Wollaton Hall’s national history museum the programme includes Saint-Saens’ Carnival of the Animals, and for lovers of musicals, we are playing foot-tapping medleys from Aladdin and Les Miserables.

Price: £10 per person + booking fee. You can book HERE
