A Leicestershire Police officer has been accused of stealing force toilet paper – from her own station.

PC Julie Smith allegedly took the loo rolls from her station and put them in her car to take back home for personal use, the force claimed. This was done “without permission or authority”, it added.

The officer will face a misconduct panel after she was accused of taking the paper on three separate occasions in January and February last year.

Ms Smith has since left the force and is due to appear before the panel next week accused of gross misconduct.

Leicestershire Police said it is alleged she has breached standards of professional behaviour, namely honesty and integrity.
