Lincoln Castle is getting a little more rock ’n’ roll next summer.
Robert Plant is heading to the historic Lincolnshire landmark for a huge outdoor show with Saving Grace and Suzi Dian, as part of the 2027 Live at Lincoln Castle series.
The former Led Zeppelin frontman will bring the band’s Root & Branch tour to Lincoln Castle on Thursday June 24, with a pretty formidable pair of special guests in Kate Rusby and Seth Lakeman.
And if the idea of one of the most distinctive voices in British rock singing folk, blues and Americana inside a 1,000-year-old castle sounds rather good, you’ll want to get the ticket-sale date in your diary.
So, what can we expect?
Plant’s post-Zeppelin adventures have taken him a long way from straightforward rock nostalgia, and Saving Grace might be one of the most intriguing.
The band brings together Plant and vocalist Suzi Dian with drummer Oli Jefferson, guitarist Tony Kelsey, banjo and string player Matt Worley and cellist Barney Morse-Brown.
Together they delve into the murkier corners of folk, blues, gospel, country and Americana, giving old songs new life rather than simply attempting to recreate the past.
The group began life near Plant’s home on the Welsh borders in 2019. Early appearances were deliberately low-key, including opening for Fairport Convention, before the pandemic temporarily derailed their plans.
When restrictions eased, they returned to making music together, recording informally in barns and outdoors and quietly playing small venues.
Plant and the band released the acclaimed Saving Grace album in 2025, followed by the Saving Grace: All That Glitters… EP.
Originally released on vinyl for Record Store Day and now available digitally, the four-track EP includes interpretations of the traditional The Blackest Crow and Two Coats, alongside Gillian Welch’s Orphan Girl and Bert Jansch’s Poison.

Plant was also honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Americana Music Association Awards earlier this year.
The support acts ain’t too shabby either
Kate Rusby, one of England’s best-known contemporary folk singers, is joining the Lincoln bill, as is Seth Lakeman, whose 2004 album Kitty Jay propelled him into the mainstream after receiving a Mercury Music Prize nomination.
Lakeman followed it with the gold-selling Freedom Fields and released his latest album, The Granite Way, in 2025.
In other words, don’t treat this one like a gig where you turn up ten minutes before the headliner.
Could this be Robert Plant’s Lincoln debut? Correct us if we’re wrong!
There’s another intriguing detail.
Lincolnshire County Council says the concert could be Plant’s first-ever performance in Lincoln during his six-decade career.
If so, he’s picked quite the venue for it.
Cllr Natalie Oliver, the council’s executive councillor for culture, said the prospect of Plant playing his first Lincoln show at the city’s 1,000-year-old castle was “incredibly exciting”.
Promoter Mark Harrison described the night as a celebration of “roots, folk and blues”, adding that having Rusby and Lakeman on the same bill should make it a particularly special show.
Lincoln Castle has got a seriously busy summer coming
Plant joins an increasingly stacked Live at Lincoln Castle 2027 programme.
Also announced for the historic venue are Paul Heaton, Bananarama, Holly Johnson, Kaiser Chiefs, Alfie Boe, Ronan Keating, Jack Savoretti and James Morrison.
Plant’s wider Root & Branch run is also set to include dates at Hampton Court Palace Festival, Halifax, Scarborough and Dublin.
