A gloriously ’90s throwback bar could be opening in Lincoln this December

Cognito closed the premises in January when it made the move to the Pyewipe pub

Dust off the bucket hats and dig out your Tamagotchi: Lincoln could soon be getting a bar dedicated to the decade that gave us Britpop, alcopops and some extremely questionable fashion choices.

Plans have been submitted to transform the former Cognito restaurant on Park Street into Wannabe, a new ’90s nostalgia bar promising “neon lights, big tunes, iconic cocktails, and all the chaos of the best decade ever”.

And you might not have long to wait to zig-a-zig-ah: online job adverts suggest the new venue is preparing to open its doors this December.

Cognito closed the premises in January when it made the move to the Pyewipe pub.

A licensing application has also been posted in the window to approve changes to the floor layout and bar length.

The online job descriptions for full and part-time staff say: ““We’re launching this December and need energetic team members to help us smash our opening.”

The Cognito team posted about the move on social media earlier this year: “This relocation allows us to bring all of our future plans together in one place.

“By operating side by side, we can build, collaborate, and create the next chapter of The Pyewipe and Cognito together…something we have been dreaming up for a while.”
