If belting out Perfect 10 inside the walls of a medieval castle sounds like your idea of a decent Wednesday night, we’ve got some very good news.
Paul Heaton is heading to Lincoln Castle next summer, bringing more than four decades’ worth of gigantic British pop songs with him.
The former Housemartins and Beautiful South songwriter will headline Live at Lincoln Castle on Wednesday June 9, 2027, with singer-songwriter Rianne Downey joining him as special guest.
And we’re talking about quite the back catalogue.
Heaton has been responsible for some of British pop’s most enduring songs, from Happy Hour and Caravan of Love with The Housemartins to Beautiful South favourites including Song For Whoever, A Little Time, Rotterdam (Or Anywhere), Perfect 10 and Don’t Marry Her.
Across his career, Heaton has clocked up more than 15 million album sales and six Number One albums.
The Lincoln date comes after the release of Jenius, Heaton’s latest album and his first solo Number One. Produced by Lightning Seeds frontman Ian Broudie, the 15-track record jumps between rock ‘n’ roll, country, soul, ska and blues, with a bit of yacht rock and Latin thrown in for good measure.
It also arrived almost exactly 40 years after The Housemartins released their debut album London 0 Hull 4. Not a bad bit of longevity.
Joining Heaton at the castle will be Rianne Downey, who first joined his touring band in 2023 and has since appeared on the albums The Mighty Several and Jenius.

Cuffe and Taylor promoter Mark Harrison said the Lincoln show would feature songs “made to be sung at the top of your lungs”, while Lincoln Castle manager Kimberley Vickers said watching Heaton perform “as the sun goes down over the castle walls will be an unforgettable experience.”
And Heaton isn’t the only big name heading behind the castle walls next summer.
The Live at Lincoln Castle 2027 series is already shaping up to be a seriously busy one, with Rudimental, Bananarama, Holly Johnson, Kaiser Chiefs, Alfie Boe, Ronan Keating, Jack Savoretti and James Morrison also announced.
