Preparations are underway to transform one of Twycross Zoo’s unique attractions into a festive woodland experience for families to explore in the run up to Christmas.
Between November 16 – December 24, 2024, visitors can step into a world where the magic of Christmas meets the wonders of The Gruffalo in the new Winter Wonderland that will temporarily replace Gruffalo Discovery Land during the festive period.
The four-acre land, complete with animatronics, film clips, and much more, offers visitors an immersive experience in which they can enter the world created by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.
Families will be taken on an adventure through the deep, dark wood, where beloved characters from The Gruffalo story are brought to life along its festive themed Christmas trail.
They will encounter the real-life animals that inspired The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo’s Child stories, including Fox, Owl, Snake, and maybe even the Big Bad Mouse.
Visitors to this year’s event will not only have the chance to meet The Gruffalo, but they will also be among the first in the UK to meet The Gruffalo’s Child — an experience that is exclusively available at Twycross Zoo this Christmas.
But the fun doesn’t stop there! Further along the Christmas trail, visitors can enjoy the zoo’s brand-new Santa Show before a meet-and-greet with Santa and his elves — providing the picture-perfect moment for families to capture those wonderful memories.
Mrs Claus will also be on hand to give every child their very own FREE Gruffalo toy to take home, and if all of that wasn’t enough to get you in the Christmas spirit, there will be a series of Christmas craft workshops and a selection of festive food and drink stalls.
