If your TikTok feed has convinced you that capybaras are the chillest animals on the planet, then Twycross Zoo has just made your dream morning a reality.

The Leicestershire zoo has launched a brand-new Capybara Breakfast Tour, giving visitors the chance to hang out with the internet’s favourite giant rodents before the zoo even opens to the public.

Yep, while everyone else is still hitting snooze, you’ll be collecting breakfast with one of Twycross Zoo’s Rangers before heading behind the scenes to meet the capybaras themselves.

Guests get to help prepare breakfast for the world’s largest rodent before visiting their enclosure, where they’ll learn more about the famously laid-back South American animals and the threats they face in the wild.

And the best bit? You get to watch them tuck into their breakfast while you’re standing just metres away.

But the content doesn’t stop there. The experience also includes an exclusive tour of some of Twycross Zoo’s South American species, including Humboldt penguins, coppery titi monkeys, vicuña and pygmy marmosets, plus insights into the conservation work helping to protect endangered animals.

After all that, there’s a well-earned coffee stop, with a hot drink and pastry included from Costa Coffee, before you spend the rest of the day exploring the zoo.

According to Twycross Zoo, demand for its existing capybara experiences has been huge, with sessions regularly selling out months in advance.

A spokesperson said: “Our existing capybara experience has been so sought-after that it is regularly sold out at least four months in advance. By launching this brand-new experience, we’re able to offer more visitors the opportunity to get closer to these amazing animals, while supporting our ongoing conservation charity initiatives.”

So, if you’ve ever looked at a capybara floating calmly in a hot spring online and thought “I need that energy in my life”, this might be the closest you’re going to get. 🦫☕️✨
