A brand-new initiative designed to make going to the cinema more affordable has launched across the East Midlands – and you can sign up now to start getting half-price tickets for movies at your local picture house.
The Cinema Club, which was inspired by a long-running and hugely successful Danish scheme, is now inviting film lovers to enjoy ten or more specially selected quality films at the discounted price.
Annual memberships cost £14.95 and give film fans access to cheaper tickets between now and autumn 2026 at participating cinemas.
The films on offer may not be blockbusters, but those behind the scheme say they have chosen movies which offer strong storytelling, acclaimed performances and real audience appeal.

Currently showing is Giant, an emotional drama about the relationship between iconic Sheffield boxer Prince Naseem Hamed and his trainer Brendan Ingle.
Upcoming titles include H is for Hawk and Mother’s Pride, with more films set to be added over the coming months.
Showcase Cinemas is just one of the chains to offer the discounted tickets.
Their UK marketing director Jon Dixon, said: “People in the East Midlands have a huge appetite for great films, and The Cinema Club is a fantastic way to enjoy even more of them at a lower price.
“The Cinema Club specially curate films for their merit, distinctiveness and audience appeal, and the scheme offers a valuable mechanism for driving engagement with titles that thrive on strong word of mouth. We’re thrilled to bring this offering to our region.”
Film fans can join the scheme by visiting thecinemaclub.co.uk. Once subscribed, they can redeem their discounted tickets directly in cinema or on their websites for each participating film.
