McDonald’s vexes vegetarians with plans to ditch 80% of its meat-free menu from next week

Vegans, you won’t be loving this…

From next week McDonald’s will be removing 80% of their plant-based and meat-free options from the menu.

It’s not a good look during Veganuary.

Veggie Dippers, Veggie Dipper Happy Meals, Spicy Veggie Wraps or Vegetable Deluxe sandwiches will all be taken off the McDonalds menu from February 3.

All that remains will be the vegan McPlant Burger – with steady sales securing its future.

A spokesperson for McDonald’s UK said: After reviewing feedback, alongside the sales data of our Veggie Dippers, it’s clear this product does not match the appeal of McPlant for our vegetarian customers.

“While McPlant remains a firm fan favourite and will continue to be the go-to choice for our vegetarian and vegan customers, we recognise these changes may be disappointing for some.”

But there is a slight glimmer of hope with the fast food chain hinting it may introduce others in the future.

“We are actively learning from other markets to understand which vegetarian and vegan options are proving most popular and exploring exciting new offerings that we know customers will love,” the spokesperson added.
