The Nottingham tour launches on Saturday, March 28, and will take place on the fourth Saturday of each month throughout the year.
Priced at £75 per person, the tour visits six different venues and offers a unique opportunity to taste delicious local produce and hear fascinating stories from producers and experts about how these foods have been produced, developed and enjoyed in the local area from Saxon times to the present day.
Hidden Food Tours founders Charla Forinton and Matt Hall are based in the Vale of Belvoir, and are both keen foodies with a passion for local produce and the history of the East Midlands.
Matt said; “We started Hidden Food Tours because we love to find and tell the stories behind some of Britain’s best known foods.
“Charla and I spend ages swapping recipes and tipping each other off about new foodie finds. After establishing successful tours in other locations we were looking for the best place to bring the idea of a walking food tour and Nottingham, the Queen of the Midlands, with it’s amazing history and fantastic food culture, was the natural place to come next.
Charla added; “Whenever I visit a new city I always try to find a food tour to join. They’re a great way of discovering the local food and history of a place and we want to bring that excitement to Nottingham. Hearing the stories behind the food, from the cheese riots to the French soldier who introduced celery to Britain, will bring the history of Nottingham alive.”
