Dizzee Rascal is hitting the road again this autumn — and while there are plenty of stops across October and November, it’s a stop in Leicester that us East Midlanders have got their eyes on.
The grime originator has lined up a string of UK headline shows, taking in the likes of Leeds O2 Academy and Manchester Academy, before rolling into Leicester’s O2 Academy 1 on Friday November 6, 2026. Tickets for all shows go on sale at 10am on Friday June 26.
Long before arena lights and chart domination, the East London star was wiring together the DNA of grime on pirate radio — all restless, stripped-back beats and machine-gun bars that captured life at street level. That blueprint would crystallise with Boy In Da Corner (2003), a debut that didn’t just announce Dizzee Rascal — it detonated. Winning the Mercury Prize and making him its youngest-ever recipient at just 19, the record remains ground zero for the genre.
From there, Dizzee’s trajectory has been anything but static. Showtime (2004) and Maths + English (2007) widened his reach, before he pivoted hard into chart-slaying territory. The late-2000s run — think “Dance Wiv Me”, “Bonkers”, “Holiday” and “Dirtee Disco” — turned him into a bona fide pop force, all without fully shedding the bite that made him essential in the first place. By the time he hit the London 2012 Olympic opening ceremony stage, the kid from Bow had become a national institution.
But Dizzee’s never been content to coast. He swerved the gloss of The Fifth (2013) for a return to grit with Raskit (2017) and E3 AF (2020), sharpening his sound back to its raw edges. An MBE followed in October 2020, formally recognising a career that has consistently bent UK music’s direction.
More recently, he’s doubled down on that restless energy. 2024’s Don’t Take It Personal saw him back in bullish, hook-heavy form via his Big Dirtee label, before surprise EP I Invented Grime underlined the point with a wink and a snarl. Onstage, that material has translated into fiery headline sets across festivals and Europe — and expectations are high for this latest run.
Which brings things back to Leicester. Sandwiched between the Manchester date and a run south, the O2 Academy 1 show on November 6 feels primed to be a pressure point — the kind of mid-tour night where everything locks in: catalogue classics, newer cuts, and a crowd close enough to feel every bar land.
