Butlin’s Skegness just installed self-serve bars and you can get a drink in six seconds

If you’ve ever spent half your holiday waiting three deep at a Butlin’s bar, this one’s for you.

Butlin’s has rolled out a brand new fleet of self-serve bars at its Skegness resort, becoming the first holiday park in Europe to introduce the high-tech Boxbar machines.

A whopping 40 units have been installed across the resort’s entertainment venues, and they’re basically designed to do one thing: get a drink in your hand ridiculously quickly.

According to Butlin’s, the machines can pour a drink in as little as six seconds, which means less standing around wondering if you’ll ever reach the front of the queue and more time actually enjoying your holiday.

Guests can choose from more than 20 drinks, including draught beers, ciders, cocktails, spirits, mixers and soft drinks. Expect familiar names like Madri, Guinness and Smirnoff, alongside Butlin’s own signature cocktail, Butlin’s On The Beach.

The self-serve bars are available during both family breaks and the resort’s adults-only Big Weekenders, while guests on Butlin’s All Inclusive Drinks package can use them too.

In what might be music to the ears of exhausted parents everywhere, Butlin’s says the technology should significantly cut waiting times during the busy summer holidays.

Heidi Watson, Butlin’s Head of Innovation, said the move is all about making holidays smoother for guests.

She said the bars are designed to reduce wait times and make it quicker and easier to grab a drink, meaning holidaymakers spend less time queueing and more time enjoying themselves.
