Leicester’s National Space Centre screening Ghostbusters to mark blockbuster comedy’s 40th anniversary

To get in the spooky spirit, Leicester’s National Space Centre is opening the UK’s largest planetarium for a special showing of smash-hit 80s comedy Ghostbusters.

You can celebrate 40 years of busting ghosts with a special anniversary screening of the comedy classic projected onto a cinema-size screen.

The screening will take place on October 25.

Recline with some popcorn, drinks and snacks from the Space Centre’s café and bar and enjoy the film like you’ve never seen it before.

Heading to the Sir Patrick Moore planetarium for one night only, the film that created the idea of the blockbuster will be projected onto the Fulldome’s cinema-sized screen.

Perfect for fans and families alike, this is perfect to experience the classic again, enjoy a spooky comedy just before Halloween, or to introduce new fans to a film that helped shape a generation.

Ghostbusters was released on June 8, 1984, to critical acclaim and became a cultural phenomenon.

It was the number-one film in theaters for seven consecutive weeks, making it one of the most successful comedy films of the 1980s.

In 2015, the Library of Congress selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry.
