The man who swapped a successful stand-up career in Las Vegas for life on a UK narrowboat is mooring up in Long Eaton next week to share his hilarious story.

Joel Sanders, the charismatic star of Channel 4’s ‘Narrow Escapes’, is bringing his stand-up show to the town next Wednesday (26).

Once a Las Vegas comedian thriving in the glitz of the strip, Joel swapped it all for a NICE CALM LIFE on a narrowboat.

The Brit had been crisscrossing America, determined to become the first British comedian to perform in all 50 states. His journey took him from rowdy redneck bars in the Deep South to theatres and high-stakes casinos. He shared the stage with many comedy legends including the late Robin Williams. But when a fateful night in Tennessee flipped his world upside down, Joel returned home and purchased a narrowboat – 18 years on, he’s still floating around.

‘Angry Boater’ is more than a night of comedy & entertainment; it’s a captivating blend of sharp wit, heartfelt storytelling, and brutally honest insights into the light – and dark – nature of humanity.

Joel is bringing his Angry Boater show to The Barge Inn, Long Eaton on Wednesday, November 26.

You can also catch up on Joel’s adventures in ‘Narrow Escapes’ on the Channel 4 app.
