The Script announce UK arena run and new LP, with big Nottingham show confirmed

PUBLISHED:

The Script have announced a huge UK and Ireland arena tour for autumn 2026, with a highly anticipated Nottingham Motorpoint Arena show set to stand out as one of the key dates on the run.

The tour arrives alongside news of the bandโ€™s forthcoming seventh album, โ€˜The Userโ€™s Guide To Being Humanโ€™, due for release on August 14, 2026, and the unveiling of its first single, the defiant and stadium-ready โ€˜Man In The Arenaโ€™.

The new single seems to signal that The Script are once again aiming squarely for arena-sized catharsis. Driven by a punchy R&B groove that erupts into a towering, hands-in-the-air chorus, the track leans into everything that has made the band a live powerhouse.

Lyrically, it draws from a famous Theodore Roosevelt speech about courage and criticismโ€”something Oโ€™Donoghue says struck a deep chord.

โ€œThe honours belong to the one who gets in thereโ€ฆ whose face is marred with dust and blood,โ€ he explains. โ€œI remember reading it and thinking: that needs to be in a tune.โ€

Itโ€™s a theme that feels especially poignant given the bandโ€™s recent history.

Moving forward after loss

The new album follows 2024โ€™s โ€˜Satellitesโ€™, written in the shadow of guitarist Mark Sheehanโ€™s death in 2023. That recordโ€”and the global arena tour that followedโ€”served as both tribute and grief process, with every show honouring Sheehanโ€™s legacy.

But rather than slow down, Oโ€™Donoghue emerged from that tour newly energised. Within days, he was back in the studio, reconnecting with long-time collaborators Andrew Frampton, Steve Kipner and Jimbo Barryโ€”the team behind hits like โ€˜Hall Of Fameโ€™, โ€˜Breakevenโ€™ and โ€˜The Man Who Canโ€™t Be Movedโ€™.

Recorded in Topanga Canyon, Los Angeles, โ€˜The Userโ€™s Guide To Being Humanโ€™ is being framed as a statement of intent for the bandโ€™s futureโ€”an emotionally direct, purpose-driven record built for connection on a massive scale.

โ€œIf you need something to remind you of the spectrum of feelings that make you human, this is it,โ€ says Oโ€™Donoghue.
