The Script have announced a huge UK and Ireland arena tour for autumn 2026, with a highly anticipated Nottingham Motorpoint Arena show set to stand out as one of the key dates on the run.
The tour arrives alongside news of the band’s forthcoming seventh album, ‘The User’s Guide To Being Human’, due for release on August 14, 2026, and the unveiling of its first single, the defiant and stadium-ready ‘Man In The Arena’.

The new single seems to signal that The Script are once again aiming squarely for arena-sized catharsis. Driven by a punchy R&B groove that erupts into a towering, hands-in-the-air chorus, the track leans into everything that has made the band a live powerhouse.
Lyrically, it draws from a famous Theodore Roosevelt speech about courage and criticism—something O’Donoghue says struck a deep chord.
“The honours belong to the one who gets in there… whose face is marred with dust and blood,” he explains. “I remember reading it and thinking: that needs to be in a tune.”
It’s a theme that feels especially poignant given the band’s recent history.
Moving forward after loss
The new album follows 2024’s ‘Satellites’, written in the shadow of guitarist Mark Sheehan’s death in 2023. That record—and the global arena tour that followed—served as both tribute and grief process, with every show honouring Sheehan’s legacy.
But rather than slow down, O’Donoghue emerged from that tour newly energised. Within days, he was back in the studio, reconnecting with long-time collaborators Andrew Frampton, Steve Kipner and Jimbo Barry—the team behind hits like ‘Hall Of Fame’, ‘Breakeven’ and ‘The Man Who Can’t Be Moved’.
Recorded in Topanga Canyon, Los Angeles, ‘The User’s Guide To Being Human’ is being framed as a statement of intent for the band’s future—an emotionally direct, purpose-driven record built for connection on a massive scale.
“If you need something to remind you of the spectrum of feelings that make you human, this is it,” says O’Donoghue.
