An award-winning Mexican street food restaurant is planning to open a new location in the centre of Lincoln.

Plan Burrito had submitted a licensing application for premises on The Strait at the bottom of Steep Hill.

This will be the chain’s first location in Lincolnshire after rapid expansion around London and Birmingham.

Building work is currently underway on the premises, which is located next to the Strait & Narrow bar and has previously been occupied by Cafe Gelato, The Cheese Society and a jewellers.

A new sign outside says: “We don’t just roll burritos, we roll over the competition.”

The chain’s website says: “We’ve cooked up the ultimate Tex-Mex street food, loaded with flavours that’ll have our fans forever undecided.”

The restaurant has a popular location at the foot of Steep Hill, with countless visitors and locals attempting the climb to the top.

The licensing application from Plan Lincoln Ltd seeks permission to sell alcohol from 10am to 11pm, and late-night refreshments from 11pm to midnight.
