Huge drum ’n’ bass stars Rudimental are taking over Lincoln Castle next summer

Rudimental are playing a massive outdoor show at Lincoln Castle next summer

The drum ’n’ bass hitmakers are bringing MJ Cole and Gardna along for a huge night inside the city’s thousand-year-old castle

The chart-topping dance act will headline Live at Lincoln Castle on Friday June 25, 2027, with UK garage legend MJ Cole joining them as special guest and Bristol MC Gardna getting things started.

And if you’ve ever wondered what drum ’n’ bass sounds like bouncing around the walls of a thousand-year-old castle, this is your chance to find out.

Rudimental have become one of the UK’s biggest dance acts over the past decade, racking up a back catalogue stuffed with festival-sized anthems including Feel The Love, Waiting All Night and These Days.

Made up of Piers Aggett, Kesi Dryden and Leon Rolle, the group have sold more than 25 million singles and three million albums worldwide, clocked up billions of streams and landed three UK number one singles and two number one albums along the way.

They’ve also picked up BRIT and MOBO Awards and earned a Mercury Prize nomination.

The band released their self-titled fifth album last year, featuring Top 10 single Dancing Is Healing, with the record revisiting the sound-system culture and breakbeats that helped shape the group in their early days.

And the support is pretty tasty too

Joining Rudimental in Lincoln will be MJ Cole, one of the names synonymous with the rise of UK garage.

Cole emerged from the late-’90s underground scene and helped take two-step into the mainstream with Sincere, which became one of the early garage tracks to break into the UK Top 40.

He recently celebrated 25 years since its release with appearances including Glastonbury, We Out Here Festival and London’s KOKO.

Opening the night is Bristol’s Gardna, whose gloriously genre-hopping sound throws together bits of bass, garage, jungle and dub. He’s also built a reputation for the kind of high-energy live shows that should make him a pretty good fit for what’s shaping up to be a very loud night in Lincoln.

And there’s another little piece of history attached to the show: organisers say Rudimental will become the first drum ’n’ bass act to perform inside Lincoln Castle’s thousand-year-old walls.

Lincoln Castle manager Kimberley Vickers said the booking demonstrated the variety of artists now appearing at the venue, adding that the combination of Rudimental’s back catalogue and the castle setting should make for a memorable night.

Who else is playing Live at Lincoln Castle 2027?

Rudimental join an increasingly eclectic line-up for next summer’s concert series.

Also heading behind the castle walls are Bananarama, Holly Johnson, Kaiser Chiefs, Alfie Boe, Ronan Keating, Jack Savoretti and James Morrison.

So, yes, Lincoln Castle’s 2027 playlist is going to be all over the place. In the best possible way.
