Lincoln‘s historic Glory Hole pathway has finally reopened after a year-long closure for repairs after it was deemed unsafe.

The riverside attraction was shut by Lincolnshire County Council after it was deemed unsafe last year.

Initially it was thought only minor repairs would be needed to the riverside attraction, but a closer look made it clear that extensive works were required.

The public right of way was closed in February 2023, with work being carried out intermittently ever since.

Lincolnshire County Council said limited access to the site had resulted in delays, as they had to receive permissions before beginning work.

Councillor Richard Davies, who is the executive member for highways at Lincolnshire Council, described the project as ‘challenging’.

“We got there in the end, so I want to thank everyone affected for their patience while we dealt with this unique and challenging repair project, right in the heart of Lincoln.”
