Plans have been submitted by Lincoln City for a temporary stand of around 250 seats, which would be in place for up to three years.
It would be located north of the existing east Greenlinc Renewables Stand, and would help meet the wave of enthusiasm following the club’s promotion to the Championship last season.
The new addition would take the capacity of the ProAmpac stadium – previously known as the LNER stadium and traditionally Sincil Bank – from 10,669 to close to 11,000.
“The club has experienced unprecedented growth in supporter demand and commercial engagement,” planning documents say.
“Season ticket sales have reached record levels, with waiting lists now established for both season tickets and hospitality lounge memberships.
“The proposed stand has been designed to provide additional spectator capacity in response to sustained and demonstrable increases in supporter demand whilst remaining wholly compatible with the existing operation of the stadium.
“Relative to its existing capacity, the proposal represents a modest but important enhancement to an established sporting venue and has been designed to integrate with the existing stadium infrastructure without extending the stadium’s operational footprint.”
The club says that the expanded capacity will allow it to continue functioning as an important sports ground and community asset for the city.
The proposed location is within the stadium’s existing footprint and won’t alter the current access or crowd management arrangements.
No date is given within the application for when the new stand could be operational if it’s given the green light.

A number of other recently-approved enhancements to the ground are also becoming a reality.
The Huddle community café was completed last month and is now open, while the redeveloped Fan Zone and South Stand hospitality area will open later this summer.
The installation of a new digital screen is also under way.
The plans for the new stand have been submitted to the City of Lincoln Council, and will be determined at a future date.
