If your ideal Halloween involves fewer horror films on the sofa and more rollercoasters, toasted marshmallows and things exploding colourfully in the sky, Gulliver’s Kingdom might have your October 31 plans sorted.
The Matlock Bath theme park is rounding off its Fright Fiesta celebrations with a big Halloween fireworks finale, promising an afternoon and evening packed with spooky family fun before the Derbyshire sky gets the full technicolour treatment.
Running from 2pm until 8pm on Saturday, October 31, the Ultimate Trick or Treat Experience combines the park’s rides and attractions with Halloween entertainment, trick-or-treating and a headline fireworks display.
And they’re throwing quite a lot into the ticket.
Visitors can take on trick-or-treat trails, hear scary tales, catch Count Tarpey’s Magic Show, toast marshmallows and pick up collectible treats along the way.
Kids also get unlimited slush drinks, while grown-ups can make use of unlimited selected hot drinks, which might prove considerably more appealing on an October evening in Derbyshire.
Expect plenty of costumes, music and Halloween goings-on around the park as afternoon turns to evening, before everyone gathers for the fireworks finale.
It’s essentially Halloween with theme park rides attached. What’s not to like?
Make a night of it
Anyone who doesn’t fancy heading home once the last rocket has fizzled out can turn the whole thing into a Halloween mini-break.
Spooky Sleepovers are available at the resort, with a selection of themed accommodation on offer for families attending the event.
