Embrace release their brand-new studio album on June 12, and East Midlanders are being given the chance to be among the very first to hear tracks from it at a special intimate launch show in Leicester.

The Yorkshire quintet will unveil their ninth studio album, Avalanche, via Cooking Vinyl, marking over 30 years together with a string of UK headline shows later in the year.

As part of the celebration, the band have hand‑picked just six small UK venues to host exclusive album launch gigs — with Leicester’s O2 Academy 2 making the cut. Fans attending these shows will get a rare early listen to new songs performed live, ahead of the band’s major UK tour.

They play Leicester on June 7.

If you miss out on the intimate dates, don’t panic — Embrace will also play Nottingham’s Rock City on November 15 as part of their nationwide run.

Speaking about the new record, frontman Danny McNamara described Avalanche as the band’s most “honest, open and raw” work to date, inspired by the rollercoaster of modern life — “fragile, ridiculous, beautiful, terrifying and short” all at once.

Discussing the creative approach, McNamara said the band aimed to capture real, in‑the‑moment emotion: “At its core, this album came from realising that life doesn’t wait for you to be ready. It just keeps happening — and you either show up for it or you don’t. The biggest change on Avalanche is that we stopped trying to figure everything out.”

Formed in the ’90s in West Yorkshire by brothers Danny and Richard McNamara, Embrace have sold more than two million albums worldwide. Their debut, The Good Will Out (1998), became one of the biggest‑selling first albums by a British band.

They followed it with critically acclaimed releases including Drawn From Memory (2000) and If You’ve Never Been (2001), which reached numbers 8 and 9 on the UK Albums Chart. After being unexpectedly dropped by Hut Recordings, the band signed to Independiente in 2004 and went on to release their biggest commercial success to date, Out of Nothing.
