CCTV images released after thugs dropped a brick from a bridge and injured a tram driver in Nottingham

Police in Nottingham have issued CCTV images of two youths they want to speak to after a tram driver was injured when a brick dropped from a bridge smashed its windscreen.

A group of youths dropped the brick from the Church Street bridge, Old Basford, into the path of the oncoming tram causing the damage.

The tram driver was covered in glass and sustained minor facial injuries.

The incident happened around 7pm on Tuesday, June 4 2024.

PC Ted Hayes, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a senseless act that could have had devastating consequences and I’m just grateful the driver didn’t suffer more serious injuries and no passengers were injured.

“If you did this, and perhaps you didn’t realise what happened as a result of dropping that brick, please do the right thing and come forward to police.

“An investigation is ongoing to find those responsible and we have now issued CCTV images of two youths we want to identify and speak to in connection with this incident. 

“I’m urging anyone who knows who they are or may recognise them from their clothing to please get in touch.”
