Birds Bakery is opening its first-ever industrial estate store — and it sounds surprisingly stylish

PUBLISHED:

A brand-new Birds Bakery is heading to Clay Cross next month, and it’ll be a first for the Derbyshire favourite.

The family-run bakery is opening its newest branch at Egstow View Business Park on Thursday August 27, marking the first time Birds has launched a store on an industrial estate.

But don’t expect a basic grab-and-go bakery. The new site has been specially designed for the location, with a fresh look featuring the brand’s new spring green and teal colour scheme, alongside a welcoming seating area for customers who fancy sticking around for a coffee and a cake.

To create the space, Birds has teamed up with social enterprise RAW Workshop, which specialises in giving unwanted furniture a second life. Expect a mix of picnic benches and traditional seating made from repurposed materials.

Of course, the real star of the show will be the counter. Customers can look forward to all the Birds classics, from its legendary Sausage and Stuffing Cobs to Elephant’s Feet and other freshly baked favourites made using local ingredients.

The new bakery is aiming to serve everyone from workers grabbing breakfast on the way in to office staff hunting down a lunchtime treat, as well as local residents looking for somewhere to stop for coffee and cake.

Jamie Bird, managing director of Birds Bakery, said: “Customers can still expect everything they know and love about Birds, from freshly baked bread and savouries to sweet treats, all served by our friendly team.”

He added: “We’ve adapted the design of the store to suit the location, creating a space that’s ideal whether you’re popping in on your way to work, grabbing lunch or meeting friends for a coffee.”

The new Birds Bakery will be located at 2a Oakleaf Close, Egstow View Business Park, Clay Cross, Chesterfield, S45 9AG.

Opening hours will be 7.30am–5pm Monday to Saturday and 9am–4pm on Sundays.
