Cinema chain Vue to takeover Cineworld site in Nottingham city centre

Cinema chain Vue is set to takeover a multiplex in Nottingham city centre, confirming the news a day after Cineworld announced it would be closing the site.

Vue said they will reopen the cinema later this year following a temporary closure and refurbishment.

On Monday, Cineworld announced it would leave the 14-screen cinema in The Cornerhouse after screening its final film on Sunday February 2.

A Vue spokesperson said: “We can confirm that we will be coming to The Cornerhouse, Nottingham.

“We’re very much looking forward to bringing guests the ultimate big screen experience later this year and will share more information in due course.”

Cineworld previously said the Nottingham venue was closing as part of a UK-wide restructure of the business.

Other Cineworld sites in Castleford, Leigh, Northampton, Middlesbrough and Poole will close on Sunday.
