New African-themed restaurant to open in Nottingham city centre later this year

Nottingham is one of eleven cities and towns across the UK lucky enough to be getting a new African-inspired eatery later this year.

Afrikana Kitchen is set to open in the former Rosa’s Thai premises in King Street in the coming months.

As reported by Propel, Afrikana Kitchen has announced plans to open a further 11 new restaurants across the UK in 2025, They currently have 16 sites in the UK.

They already have a restaurant in both Derby and Leicester city centres.

Rosa’s Thai closed in February last year, having opened in December 2022.

Afrikana Kitchen offers African dishes, including grilled chicken and bunny chow, a South African street food dish.

Omair Ali, managing director of Afrikana’s parent company City Restaurant Group, said: “I am proud to announce that Afrikana Kitchen is expanding, and we will soon be serving our delicious food in Nottingham.

“Franchise partner Umer Chohan and team come with vast experience within the hospitality sector, so we’re super excited to kick start our journey together in Nottingham with a new look Afrikana Kitchen. 2025 has a lot on its radar and Nottingham will kick us off for a very busy year.”
