ABBA smash-hit musical MAMMA MIA! is returning to Nottingham for a two-week run

The world’s most successful feel-good musical is returning to Nottingham later this month as MAMMA MIA! brings its smash-hit UK tour to the Royal Concert Hall.

The beloved ABBA-inspired musical will run at the venue from September 29 to October 10, 2026, giving East Midlands audiences nearly two weeks to catch one of the most popular stage productions ever created.

Since first opening in London’s West End, MAMMA MIA! has become a genuine global phenomenon, combining the timeless music of ABBA with a heartwarming story set on a sun-drenched Greek island.

Created by producer Judy Craymer, the musical follows Sophie Sheridan as she secretly invites three men from her mother Donna’s past to her upcoming wedding, determined to discover which one is her father. What follows is a joyful mix of romance, comedy and classic pop anthems.

Packed with ABBA favourites including Dancing Queen, Super Trouper, Take A Chance On Me, Voulez-Vous and The Winner Takes It All, the show has become one of the most successful musicals of all time.

Now in its 28th year, MAMMA MIA! has been seen by more than 70 million people worldwide and remains a fixture of London’s West End. The production has also enjoyed huge international success, touring dozens of countries and inspiring two blockbuster films starring Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgård and Julie Walters.

The Nottingham run forms part of a major UK tour, giving local theatre fans the chance to experience the musical’s crowd-pleasing blend of comedy, romance and unforgettable songs without travelling to the West End.

Leading the cast will be Jenn Griffin as Donna Sheridan, alongside Hazel Baldwin as Sophie Sheridan, Richard Taylor Woods as Sam Carmichael, Simon Victor as Bill Austin and Arvid Larsen as Harry Bright. Also joining the production are Sarah Earnshaw as Tanya and Lauren Woolf as Rosie.

Featuring music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, a book by Catherine Johnson, direction by Phyllida Lloyd and choreography by Anthony Van Laast, the production continues to attract audiences of all ages more than two decades after its debut.

Whether you’re a lifelong ABBA fan or seeing the show for the first time, MAMMA MIA! promises a night of pure escapism and plenty of singalong ABBA-tastic moments.
