New Jenno’s coffee house with live music planned for new Leicester estate

Plans are brewing for a new coffee house in a part of Leicestershire where 4,250 homes are being built.

A new premises licence application has been submitted to Blaby District Council for Unit 5, Tay Road, New Lubbesthorpe, for Jenno’s Coffee House Ltd.

According to the application, as well as serving coffee, Jenno’s intends to sell alcohol and host live music performances. Alcohol sales will be Monday to Sunday from 12pm until 11pm.

Live music is planned from 7pm until 11pm from Monday to Sunday. Recorded music is also being applied for, also from Monday to Sunday from 7am until 11pm.

Jenno’s is already well known for its existing branches, in Blaby, Everards Meadows, Welford Road, Brocks Hill in Oadby and Carlton Park in Narborough.

The Blaby branch was the first to open in September 2016 under the name Coffee Cosmo, before the Everards Meadows site then launched in July 2019.

Jenno’s serves Arabica bean coffee which originates from Brazil, El Salvador and India. As well as hot and cold coffee, drinks include smoothies and tea, and food items available range from cakes to soup of the day.

Work began on New Lubbesthorpe in 2016, with the first residents moving in in 2017. As of February this year, 1,308 homes are occupied, BDC said.

The estate will eventually cover 394 hectares, the equivalent of nearly 552 full-size football pitches.

The development is a partnership between landowners, The Drummond Estate, developers Barratt Homes, David Wilson Homes, Davidsons Homes and BDC, with input from Leicestershire County Council’s highways department.
