Fried chicken fans queued for up to 12 hours to be among the first to get their teeth into the world-famous food now on offer at Popeyes new restaurant in Lincoln city centre.

It is the first of the chain’s restaurants to open in Lincolnshire and the 44th one to open in the UK this year.

The High Street store opened its doors for the first time at 11am on Thursday (4) bringing its signature New Orleans energy and hospitality to the area with a live Mardi Gras style band, The Brass Funkeys. The launch was also celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and exclusive merchandise giveaways.

The restaurant will now offer Popeyes fan-favourites like the Chicken Sandwich, Tenders, and Signature Chicken Wraps in Classic, Spicy, and BBQ.

All of Popeyes chicken is halal certified and marinated for 12 hours on-site in its signature blend of Louisiana herbs and spices, then hand-breaded and battered to deliver that world-famous ‘shatter crunch,’ complemented by tasty extras like Biscuits and Cajun Gravy.

The fast food favourite’s Saucin’ Boneless and Hot Wings range will also be available from opening day in three bold, New Orleans-inspired flavours: cheesy Garlic Parm, smokin’ Bold BBQ and spicy Buffalo.

The restaurant offers dine-in and takeaway options, allowing customers to enjoy fan favourites like the iconic chicken sandwich, hot wings, tenders, and signature chicken wraps, either inside or on the go.

The new restaurant also has a limited-edition festive menu available, a breakfast menu and seating for up to 64 people inside.

Tom Crowley, Popeyes UK chief executive, said at the opening: “We officially opened our doors in Lincoln this morning and couldn’t be more excited to land in Lincolnshire for the first time.

“The East Midlands has shown so much love for our Louisiana fried chicken and we’re thrilled to bring that energy to Lincoln’s High Street.”
