Ripened fruit: Black Grape to celebrate 30th anniversary of legendary ‘It’s Great When You’re Straight…Yeah!’ album with Nottingham tour date

Manchester legends Black Grape are to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their number one 1995 album with a new tour playing the album in it’s entirety – and it’s coming to Nottingham.

Black Grape have announced an 11-date tour taking place in November and December with special guests Dodgy as support.

Shaun Ryder and Kermit will be taking to the stage at The Level located on the city’s Shakespeare Street on Friday, December 19, which is the penultimate date of the tour.

It’s Great When You’re Straight…Yeah was Black Grape’s debut album, released on August 7, 1995 Following the breakup of Happy Mondays, frontman Shaun Ryder formed Black Grape with vocalist Paul “Kermit” Leveridge and dancer Bez.

It’s Great When You’re Straight…Yeah topped the UK Albums Chart for two weeks. It sold over 100,000 copies in its first month of release. The album was certified platinum by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) the following year
