Nottingham punter bags £10k after somehow predicting eight football score draws

If you’ve ever looked at a football fixture list and thought, “I reckon that’ll be a draw,” then congratulations. A Nottinghamshire resident has just turned that kind of football intuition into a cool £10,000 payday.

The lucky local landed the cash on The Pools’ Classic Pools game after correctly predicting eight score draws across England and Scotland. Considering most of us struggle to get one weekend accumulator right, it’s a pretty impressive feat.

Classic Pools gives players the chance to win prizes by predicting which football matches will finish level. Get enough correct score draws and you could even land a jackpot worth up to £3 million.

The winning coupon was placed earlier this month and included a selection of spot-on predictions, from Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Hull City to Bournemouth and Brentford sharing the points in another 2-2 thriller.

Other correct calls included draws involving West Brom, QPR, Blackpool, Bromley, Colchester, Crewe, Newport, Fleetwood, Rotherham, Salford City and Scottish sides Queen of the South and East Fife.

Speaking about the win, Joseph Carter-Bell, Director of Customer Success and Operations at The Pools, said: “Here at The Pools we’re all about rewarding our loyal customers with wins both big and small, and it’s great to see another of our players celebrating after landing £10,000 on our much-loved Classic Pools product.

“The Nottingham resident took home their winnings this month after successfully predicting eight score draws, and it’s another reminder that there’s always something to play for with The Pools.”

The winning predictions

  • Bournemouth v Brentford – 2-2
  • Chelsea v Hull City – 2-2
  • West Bromwich Albion v Queens Park Rangers – 1-1
  • Blackpool v Bromley – 2-2
  • Colchester United v Crewe Alexandra – 1-1
  • Newport County v Fleetwood Town – 1-1
  • Rotherham United v Salford City – 3-3
  • Queen of the South v East Fife – 1-1

The PR firm obviously didn’t submit a photo so we’ve no chance of tapping the winner up for a pint any time soon.
