Nottingham Forest have paid tribute to a 14-year-old former academy teenager who died after being fatally struck by a train in Notts

Nottingham Forest have led tributes to a former Academy player who sadly died on Wednesday.

The Reds took to social media to pay tribute to 14-year-old Josh Travis, who was a former academy goalkeeper with the Premier League side.

Josh Travis died on Wednesday in Nottinghamshire after being hit by a train and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Nottingham Forest wrote in an Instagram post: “Everyone at Nottingham Forest is deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of our former academy goalkeeper Josh Travis.

“Our thoughts are with Josh’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time.”

Forest captain Ryan Yates also appeared in the comments section, where he wrote a heartbroken emoji in tribute.

Josh’s family paid tribute to him in a statement which described him as “a lad with an incredible energy for life, an infectious and mischievous smile, kind sparkling eyes, and so much love to give.”
