If hearing the opening bars of ‘Pure’ immediately transports you back several decades, clear a space in your 2027 diary: Lightning Seeds are coming to Nottingham.
Ian Broudie and co have announced a major Greatest Hits Tour for winter 2027 – and Rock City gets a date on Thursday November 25.
Better yet, this one is pretty much designed for anyone who wants the hits. The career-spanning set is expected to include ‘Pure’, ‘The Life of Riley’, ‘Change’, ‘Lucky You’, ‘Sense’, ‘Sugar Coated Iceberg’ and ‘You Showed Me’, alongside plenty more from the band’s back catalogue.
In other words, expect a night of ridiculously catchy British pop and several moments where you suddenly realise your booze-addled brains still remember every word.
When are Lightning Seeds playing Nottingham?
Lightning Seeds play Rock City, Nottingham, on Thursday November 25, 2027.
The Nottingham gig comes as part of a lengthy UK run beginning at Holmfirth Picturedome on November 4, with stops including Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, Manchester’s Albert Hall, Sheffield’s O2 Academy and Newcastle’s Northumbria University.
For Nottingham fans, though, Rock City arguably feels like exactly the right setting for it: one of Britain’s great live venues, a packed room and a band with more than 35 years’ worth of songs to raid.
Lightning Seeds were formed in Liverpool by songwriter and producer Ian Broudie and have gone on to sell more than eight million albums.
The band celebrated their 35th anniversary in 2024 with the 20-track greatest-hits collection Tomorrow’s Here Today: 35 Years of Lightning Seeds, followed by a UK tour, festival appearances and outdoor shows.
Now they’re dipping back into that enormous songbook for another lap of the country.
Announcing the dates, Broudie said: “We’re delighted to announce our 2027 Greatest Hits Tour. We really can’t wait to see everyone on our headline tour next winter for what is going to be a very special collection of gigs!”
When do Lightning Seeds Nottingham tickets go on sale?
Tickets for Lightning Seeds at Nottingham Rock City go on sale at 9am on Friday October 30.
Given the band’s previous greatest-hits tour sold out, anyone fancying a big Thursday night of indie-pop nostalgia at Rock City probably shouldn’t hang around.
