Dust off the shoulder pads, warm up your vocal cords and prepare for a serious dose of nostalgia. Holly Johnson, Haircut 100 and Toyah are set to take over Lincoln Castle next summer for what might just be the region’s biggest retro night out.
The former Frankie Goes To Hollywood frontman will headline Live at Lincoln Castle on June 26, bringing a catalogue packed with some of the most iconic songs of the 1980s to one of the country’s most spectacular outdoor venues.
If you grew up with Relax, Two Tribes or The Power of Love blasting from the radio, this one’s for you.
Johnson remains one of British pop’s most distinctive voices, with a career that stretches far beyond his Frankie Goes To Hollywood days. Since striking out solo, he’s delivered hits including Americanos, Love Train and Atomic City, while cementing his reputation as one of pop’s most enduring and outspoken figures.
And that’s only half the story.
Joining him on the bill are Haircut 100, whose sunny, infectious pop soundtrack helped define the early Eighties. Expect classics such as Love Plus One, Favourite Shirts (Boy Meets Girl) and Fantastic Day, alongside newer material from the band’s recent comeback album Boxing The Compass.
Completing the triple bill is Toyah, the punk-pop trailblazer whose hit-filled catalogue includes It’s A Mystery, I Want To Be Free and Good Morning Universe. More than five decades into her career, she’s still proving why she’s one of Britain’s most unforgettable live performers.
Set against the backdrop of Lincoln Castle’s ancient walls and cathedral views, the show looks tailor-made for anyone who believes music peaked somewhere between synth-pop, new wave and extravagant music videos.
The concert forms part of the growing Live at Lincoln Castle series, which has established the historic venue as one of the East Midlands’ most impressive summer music destinations. Next year’s programme also includes performances from Kaiser Chiefs, Alfie Boe, Ronan Keating, Jack Savoretti and James Morrison.
