If you spent the late ’80s with Dignity on repeat, then this one’s for you.
Scottish music legends Deacon Blue are heading to Nottingham’s Motorpoint Arena on Wednesday, October 13, 2027, as part of a huge UK and Ireland tour celebrating 40 years of their landmark debut album Raintown.
The beloved band will perform the classic 1987 record in full, giving fans the chance to hear era-defining tracks including Dignity, When Will You (Make My Telephone Ring), Chocolate Girl and Loaded exactly as they were meant to be heard: live and loud.
But this isn’t just a nostalgia trip. The second half of the show promises a career-spanning set packed with hits from across Deacon Blue’s four-decade catalogue, making it one of the band’s most ambitious tours to date.
Frontman Ricky Ross said: “When we made our first record none of us imagined there would be an audience still wanting to hear it played live forty years on. To recreate the songs and the atmosphere of that debut album will be a great joy for us.”
He added: “Although each night will feature Raintown as the first part of the concert, the second act will include songs from all our albums and we aim to make each night a unique experience. We are thrilled you are all still there to be part of another adventure and we are excited about coming to a city near you in 2027.”
Few UK bands can boast a back catalogue quite like Deacon Blue’s. Since forming in Glasgow, they’ve sold more than seven million records, landed a string of Top 40 singles, scored two number one albums and continue to pack out arenas. Their most recent album, The Great Western Road, showed there’s still plenty of life left in the band, reaching No. 3 in the UK charts.
Now, they’re returning to the album that started it all. Raintown has long since achieved platinum status and remains one of the most cherished debut albums in British pop history.
