Nearly 40 years on, the ABBA homage show remains unstoppable
Björn Again’s show at Vaillant Live last year was nothing short of joyous chaos, so if you like your gigs packed with dancing, singing, glitter cannons and unapologetic ABBA anthems, this is very much your night out.

The original Australian ABBA homage, are bona fide veterans of the feel‑good live circuit. Across 39 years, they’ve racked up more than 5,800 performances in 78 countries, proving that pop perfection – and a bit of spandex – never really dates.
And now they’ve announced a return Derby date on March 19, 2027!

The whole phenomenon began in the late ’80s when founder Rod Stephen, then working in metallurgical research, decided to sack it all off after being inspired by the theatrical flair of Split Enz. At 29, he pivoted hard, dreaming up a show that would celebrate the sound, style and sparkle of the 1970s.
Stephen toyed with centring the project around The Beatles, Queen or ABBA, but it was the latter’s perfect blend of pop melodrama, disco gloss and glorious kitsch that won out. After endless auditions, obsessive study of videos and months of rehearsal, all that remained was to build the right show around the name. Björn Again was born – and promptly hit the road running.
The impact was immediate and lasting. The band has since been credited by Björn Ulvaeus himself as a driving force behind the great ABBA revival of the late ’80s and early ’90s. Today, Björn Again remains widely regarded as the most successful and enduring show of its kind – a loving homage that knows exactly when to wink, when to glitter, and when to let the songs do the talking.
In short: if pure pop escapism is what you’re after, resistance is futile.
