Bananarama are bringing a huge ’80s pop party to Lincoln Castle next summer

They'll be joined on the night by Tony Hadley and Altered Images

Get ready for a serious dose of synth-pop, shoulder pads and singalong anthems. Bananarama have announced a huge outdoor show at Lincoln Castle next summer, joined by Spandau Ballet legend Tony Hadley and Scottish new wave icons Altered Images.

The queens of British pop will headline Live at Lincoln Castle on Saturday June 19, 2027, as part of their Too Hot To Handle Greatest Hits Summer Tour, bringing one of the biggest collections of ’80s hits ever assembled to one of the East Midlands’ most spectacular venues.

With more than 30 million records sold worldwide and a Guinness World Record for the most chart entries by an all-female group, Bananarama remain one of the UK’s most enduring pop acts. Their back catalogue includes classics such as Cruel Summer, Venus, Love In The First Degree, Robert De Niro’s Waiting and, of course, I Heard A Rumour.

The Lincoln date looks set to be one of the highlights of the band’s summer, with special guests Tony Hadley and Altered Images adding even more chart-topping nostalgia to the bill.

Hadley, whose unmistakable voice helped define the New Romantic era as frontman of Spandau Ballet, will bring hits including Gold, True, Only When You Leave and Through The Barricades to the castle stage. Meanwhile Altered Images, led by Clare Grogan, will open the evening with fan favourites such as Happy Birthday, I Could Be Happy and Don’t Talk To Me About Love.

In short: if your Spotify Wrapped is full of ’80s bangers, this is probably your dream line-up.

Announcing the tour, Bananarama’s Sara Dallin said: “Summer 2027 we are so ready for you! We can’t wait to perform all of our biggest hit singles and bring the Bananarama party to some of the UK’s most brilliant outdoor venues.”

Keren Woodward added: “We promise a night of real 80s nostalgia and along with our special guests, guarantee an evening that will have everyone dancing and singing along.”

The show joins an already impressive Live at Lincoln Castle 2027 programme, which includes performances from Kaiser Chiefs, Ronan Keating, Holly Johnson, Alfie Boe, Jack Savoretti and James Morrison.

Set against the backdrop of the city’s historic Norman castle, it’s shaping up to be another blockbuster summer for Lincoln’s flagship concert series.

Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday via Lincoln Castle and Ticketmaster.
