Think you’ve heard every Titanic story going? Think again. A blockbuster exhibition packed with genuine artefacts and passenger tales from the world’s most famous ocean liner is dropping anchor in Leicester this autumn, and it’s only sticking around for 10 days.
Titanic in 101 Objects arrives at The Kube at Leicester Racecourse from October 8 to 18, offering visitors a chance to get astonishingly close to pieces of history that survived the 1912 disaster.
Among the headline-grabbing exhibits are an original Titanic deckchair, a cream jug from the ship’s swanky Café Parisien, and what’s believed to be the largest surviving fragment of the Grand Staircase ever put on display. Yes, that Grand Staircase.
But it’s not just about the big-ticket artefacts. The exhibition also shines a light on the lives of the passengers and crew through personal belongings, keepsakes and everyday objects that tell the human stories behind the tragedy.
The exhibition charts Titanic’s journey from its construction in Belfast and glamorous maiden voyage through to the disaster itself and the ship’s enduring legacy more than a century later. Rather than staring at objects behind a wall of text, visitors can examine authentic relics up close and appreciate details that photos, documentaries and Hollywood blockbusters simply can’t replicate.
Curated by the team behind White Star Heritage’s acclaimed touring exhibitions, it’s a rare opportunity for history buffs, Titanic obsessives and anyone fascinated by one of history’s most enduring stories.
