Man dies after being pulled from River Soar in Leicester city centre

An investigation into the death of a man is continuing after he was pulled from the River Soar in Leicester city centre.

Police were called to Mill Lane at around 7.30pm on Saturday (27) following a report of a man was in the water.

Emergency services attended and the man was pulled out of the river.

He was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary but died a short time later.

Police are now trying to establish how he came to enter the water but it is not believed there was any third party involvement.

Detective Sergeant Vicki Hudson said: “We would like to speak to anyone who saw a man in the area or who saw the man enter the water.

“Any information or footage you can provide, for example from a dashcam, could help our investigation.”
