Derbyshire’s Buxton Brewery is set to open a new taproom in Derby city centre as part of Bustler’s upcoming St James Yard development.
The venue, named Dukes, will form part of Bustler’s latest street food and leisure destination, which is being created using around 20 repurposed shipping containers arranged across two levels.
Dukes will feature eight keg lines, three cask lines and a rotating selection of canned beers, including small-batch brews produced using Buxton Brewery’s new pilot system. These limited-edition beers will be exclusive to the brewer’s taprooms in Buxton and Derby.
Olivia Pritchard, managing director of Bustler, said the new addition would play a key role in the scheme, adding “another layer” to the destination and giving people more reasons to visit and spend time there.

Buxton Brewery managing director Dom Metcalfe said Derby had “a real appreciation for both traditional and modern styles”, adding that it felt important for the brewery to establish a stronger presence in the city.
An upstairs space at Dukes is expected to host beer masterclasses, events and potential brewery tours linking Derby with Buxton Brewery’s Peak District base.
The announcement follows confirmation last month that pan-Asian street food operator That Kick will also be joining the development.
Bustler began as a street food market in Derby before expanding into permanent food hall venues in both Derby and Nottingham.
Buxton Brewery already operates several venues in Buxton, including Tap House, the Spring Gardens retail space, Sock & Buskin cocktail bar and its brewery taproom.
