The Old Horse in Leicester is gearing up for a big comeback this April, reopening after a major transformation under its new owners.
The much‑loved pub on the edge of Victoria Park is the latest venue to join the independent Beautiful Pubs Collective.
More than £1 million has been poured into the project by Beautiful Pubs and Everards of Leicestershire, blending the Old Horse’s iconic heritage with a fresh, modern overhaul across both its interiors and outdoor spaces.
Sam Hagger, founder of the Beautiful Pubs Collective, said: “We began reimagining the Old Horse 18 months ago, and we’ve put everything into bringing this historic pub back to life. We’re now in the final stretch — and we can’t wait to welcome guests old and new through the doors.”
Interior upgrades include a proper bar with retro Guinness dispense, a selection of traditional ciders, and a new dining area with an open pizza kitchen. The menu will feature all-day dining options, including pub toasties.
The refurbishment has also focused on the pub’s extensive outdoor area.
Hagger added: “We are really excited about the enhanced outdoor space.
“The Old Horse is so well known for its large garden area at the rear of the property, and we will be offering a dedicated full-service outdoor bar, as well as a Germanic-inspired beer garden kitchen & whipped Jersey-style ice cream kiosk. We hope it will be a real Leicestershire destination this summer.”
The Old Horse becomes the fourth pub in the Beautiful Pubs Collective in Leicestershire, alongside The Forge, The Rutland & Derby, and Knight & Garter, each designed to reflect the individuality of their local communities while delivering award-winning hospitality.
