The afternoon tea is a real indulgence and one of the most quintessentially British pastimes in existence.

From steaming pots of tea to the dainty sandwiches and cakes – everyone has their favourite bit. Personally, ours has to be the little sandwiches – egg mayo is a real winner here at SitM towers. In fact, we’re getting misty just thinking about it.

And now, Melton Mowbray’s Ye Olde Pie Shoppe is launching their own distinctive take on the traditional tea that celebrates the craft and flavours that have made the town synonymous with exceptional food for generations

The Afternoon Tea for Two is now being served in The Tasting Room at the historic Shoppe in the heart of the town and showcases a carefully curated selection of freshly prepared cut sandwiches, the Shoppe’s celebrated handcrafted pork pies, and an array of cakes and sweet treats. Guests can also enjoy freshly baked scones served with traditional jam and clotted cream, creating the perfect balance of savoury and sweet.

Mmmmm, yes please

Served within the welcoming surroundings of The Tasting Room, the experience invites visitors to slow down and savour the flavours of a town long renowned for its food traditions. From the iconic pork pie to the comforting ritual of afternoon tea, the offering brings together elements of British culinary history in one indulgent and memorable setting.

“Afternoon tea is one of Britain’s most cherished traditions, and we wanted to create something that reflects both our own heritage and the rich food history of Melton Mowbray,” said Richard Griffiths, Shop Manager at Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe.

“By pairing our handcrafted pork pies with classic afternoon tea favourites, we’ve created an experience that feels both familiar and uniquely rooted in this town.”
