Marti Cifuentes has today departed Leicester City as manager after just six months in charge, the club has confirmed.

A home defeat to Oxford United proved to be the final straw for Cifuentes who has won just 10 of his 29 Championship fixtures in charge.

He leaves The Foxes 14th in the table.

Leicester City issued a statement earlier today.

It said: “We can confirm that Martí Cifuentes has left his position as Leicester City First Team Manager with immediate effect.

“Martí took charge of the team in July 2025 and leaves with the thanks of everyone at Leicester City for his professionalism and dedication during his time with us.”

Leicester City Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha said: “This has been a difficult decision and not one I have taken lightly. I would like to thank Martí for the total commitment he has shown during his time at Leicester City. He gave everything to the role and worked tirelessly to help us achieve our targets.

“However, I believe this is the right step at this time to improve performances and results, and to act in the best interests of Leicester City Football Club. Martí leaves with our thanks and our best wishes for the future.”

First Team Coach Andy King will take charge of team preparations on an interim basis while we undertake a process to appoint a permanent manager.
