A brazen thief was caught red handed by police officers who found him scoffing a sandwich in the kitchen of a flat which had been broken into.
The 33-year-old was in the middle of his meal when he was disturbed by police investigating reports of a burglary in progress at the flat in Gregory Boulevard, Radford
The suspected trespasser couldn’t provide a suitable response as to what he was doing there, so the officers placed him in handcuffs. A search of his coat pockets led to the discovery of missing valuables – including pieces of gold jewellery reported missing from the flat. Other watches, rings and pieces of jewellery were also recovered during a search.
Having already arrested the 33-year-old man on suspicion of that burglary, police realised he was also wanted in connection with a separate break-in where belongings had been taken from within a property in Norton Street, Radford.
Sergeant James King, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Police inside the flat detained a suspect, who was sat down in the kitchen eating a sandwich.
“Having arrested the suspected trespasser for that offence, the officers then realised he had potential links to a separate break-in from around a week earlier too, so this proved to be a good job all-round.”
