Derby folk who haven’t yet given up on eating healthier in 2026, there’s good news: a brand new monthly farmers’ market is about to open in the city’s Market Hall.

Derby City Council said the new markets would highlight growers, producers and independent food traders from across the city and county.

The events are being organised in collaboration with heritage centre Derby Uncovered, the authority added.

The council added the events will host fresh seasonal produce, artisanal foods, and “flavours that highlight the rich agricultural heritage of the region”.

Council leader Nadine Peatfield said: “Part of our ethos has always been to champion the amazing independent traders who make our region unique, and this new monthly farmers’ market continues to build on that commitment – bringing our historic space up to date for a modern audience.”

Derby Market Hall reopened last May following the completion of a £35m refurbishment.
